The blockade began at 6:00am today, confirmed Md Rokibuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station.
Algi Union Parishad Chairman MM Siddique announced the programme at a press conference held at the Algi Union Parishad premises yesterday.
He said the blockade would be enforced 12 hours from 6:00am daily. The programme would continue till Tuesday.
Siddique warned that if their demand to reverse the boundary change is not met, residents will lay siege to the Election Commission office, and all political parties in Bhanga will boycott the upcoming national election.
The blockade will be enforced daily at several key points in Bhanga, including Hospital Gate, Rail Line, Puliya Bus Stand, Pukuria Rail Crossing, Pukuria Bus Stand, Mansurabad Bus Stand, Hamirdi Bus Stand, Madhabpur Bus Stand, and Suyadi Bus Stand.
On September 17, the agitators plan to submit a memorandum to the Election Commission.
